From tiny beginnings to oceans I discovered the world in words

For my cousin and loyal friend Denny who sadly lost her very short fight against cancer after only 9 weeks.

When despair grows in me and I wake in the middle of the night

in fear of what my life and my children’s lives may be.

I go and lie down where the wood drake rests in his beauty on the water

and the great heron feeds.

I come into the peace of wild things

who do not tax their lives with forethoughts of grief.

I come into the presence of still water

and feel above me the day-blind stars

waiting for their light.

For a time, I rest in the grace of the world and am free.

  1. Thank you for stopping by. I am sorry for your loss. We too had a loss just a the end of last year. I do wonder though if at times some animals and plants grieve in different ways for the loss of things they knew.

May your loved one’s memories be remembered as blessing in each star that shines in the night’s sky.
